Dive Sites

More than 50 dive sites, a spacious dive centre, a great variety of courses for beginner and experienced divers, and the international Ocean-Pro dive team in Meeru will make your diving holidays an unforgettable experience.

There is a dive site for every taste:
The outside reefs around Meeru are easy and relaxing to dive. They are famous for their turtle population and not only are an encounter with these gentle reptiles literally guaranteed but it will also put a smile on your face.

The channel crossings are demanding with current and the chance to see big pelagic fish.

Thilas and giris inside the atoll feature an enormous number and variety of fish, but are protected from too strong currents, thus not only experienced divers but also beginners will enjoy to dive on these typical Maldivian dive sites.

Mantas and sharks can be seen all year! Our favorite and famous manta spots from May to December are “Fairy Tale” and “Lankan Manta Point” and from December to April "Bodu Hithi Thila” (full day or two tank excursion).

The water temperature is on average 28 degrees centigrade and the visibility from January to May about 20 to 50 and from June to December 15 – 25 meter.

Here are a few short descriptions of some of our dive sites just to give you an idea:

• Far Reef - Very beautiful outside reef with great fish life and many White tip reef sharks

• Miyaru Faru Kandu – Shark Highlight ! Grey Reef Sharks, White tip reef sharks, Eagle Rays and other pelagics

• Fairy Tale – Reef overhangs with beautiful soft corals and a great diversity of marine species. Manta cleaning station!

• Prisca Corner – Jagged reef slope with interesting overhangs, big napoleon wrasses and groupers. Manta sightings!

• Reethi Tila - Beautiful thila with hard and soft corals and many shoals of reef fish

• Asdhoo Rock – Unusual reef structure and great amounts of fish make Asdhoo Rock one of the most interesting inside reef dive spots. Good for shark observation!

• West Rock – Easy-to-dive steel wreck (length: 30 m)

House Reef/Lagoon
Meeru is surrounded by a big, beautiful lagoon. There is no typical house reef. Therefore, all dives are boat dives.

The lagoon is home to a great variety of marine life with interesting coral formations and colourful fish life in shallow water. It is perfect for snorkelers and for diver training.
